MUNDANE POWER
For Vallee Duhamel
This piece delves into the transformative nature of life becoming art. The Vallee Duhamel family feeds their creative cycle not just through remarkable work, but through love and synergy, making their relationship a cornerstone of their artistry. The two apples at the bottom symbolize the adage, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree," serving as a tribute to their children who are at the heart of their creativity, continuously nurturing and inspiring their work. Positioned within the center of a vibrant garden, the apples radiate a powerful spectrum of color, which then cascades into a river of continuous flow. This fluid motion is designed to form a circular structure, emphasizing the recurring motif of iconic red spheres, frequently seen in their creations. At the epicenter of it all stands the hero banana. The family’s work often explores the mundane, transforming everyday objects into profound reflections on reality. By removing these items from their usual context, they shift our perception, encouraging us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. The oversized banana, with its cape, symbolizes this creative genius — challenging us to think beyond convention and realize that even the simplest objects can hold immense power and significance when viewed through a new lens.
