LAYERED FLOW

For Luke Hayman

Luke Hayman’s piece embodies themes of maturity, complexity, and growth. The model established at Pentagram, where responsibility is passed on to future partners, has enabled the company to evolve and sustain itself as the world’s largest independent design firm. This enduring success is evident in their continuous evolution and the arrival of new partners, joining the ranks of esteemed leaders like Luke Hayman, Michael Bierut, Michael Gericke, and Paula Scher. Luke’s ability to produce exceptional work is complemented by his pursuit of personal passion projects, allowing his creativity to flow freely and evolve.

The artwork itself is a profound reflection of Pentagram’s layered structure. It is a monumental composition, stacking the iconic "P" typography from their logo—an element central to Luke’s design philosophy. The type serves as the foundation, framing the piece with its inherent significance. A dynamic liquid flow cascades through the layers, symbolizing the way each partner nourishes the next. As new layers are added, the energy from the top influences and enhances the generations below, reinforcing the strong foundation laid by those who have contributed to the firm’s remarkable legacy.hree decades.
