For Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians outdoor campaign, BGSTR led the creation of a large-scale immersive “Sea of Monsters” experience across major U.S. locations including Times Square, Hollywood & Vine, New York’s 42nd Street 3D billboard, and the curved screen installation at the Moxy in Los Angeles. The work translated the show’s underwater world into site-specific OOH executions ranging from ultra-wide multi-screen compositions to architectural illusions and interactive billboards that famously spilled real water into a physical tank below.
My role centered on the design and execution of the water simulations and FX systems powering the campaign’s hero moments. I built custom wave forces and white-water solvers capable of fitting ocean-scale motion into tightly constrained architectural volumes, while dynamically interacting with the Percy Jackson logo and signature tentacle element. Across the campaign, I adapted the simulations to extreme resolutions, curved surfaces, and multi-screen handoffs—ensuring the water remained physically grounded, legible from multiple viewpoints, and visually spectacular at massive urban scale.
